Celebrating #InternationalDawnChorusDay this weekend with a throw back to the resident forest white-tailed eagles, calling their talons off at 620am on the 31st March 2020. Followed by a romantic exchange between them both, with one of the many cuckoos in the forest calling in the background. From the forest we enjoying listening to the cuckoo, curlew, hen harrier, white-tailed eagle, goldcrest, willow warbler, wren and the redpoll to name but a few! We are surrounded by incredible beaches. Our cabins look out towards the Aird A’Mhorain peninsula and one of our favourite stretches of sand. Enjoy a flight with Angus as he soars along the endless dunes of Traigh Iar 🪂

The Hen Harriers are showing well here just now. They are such striking birds and really lovely to watch gliding low across the landscape as they hunt for their prey. These images were taken by @deaneades who visits North Uist each year and captures some incredible shots. In these images, the male has taken prey back to the female at her nest. Their ‘food pass’ takes place in mid-air. These two images are very special and have been shown in the National Geographic and on the BBC. Do you think she kept hold of her vole?

Shhhhhhh......and you might just spot an elusive otter when out exploring Uist. This was our second sighting in one week 🥰 Angus and Darach (the labrador!) kept very still and quiet, the otter tootled around doing his thing, undisturbed 🐾🌿
